A little about me

Well I was informed by my publisher, (I really like how that sounds), that readers want to know about their authors. Well I’m a born and raised native Detroiter, never to leave my city. I began writing in the 4th grade. My teacher didn’t like something I wrote and killed my dreams of writing. Ask me about this sometime. It took me almost 40 years to get to where I am now. I’m single and the oldest of three girls, women now. I work for an airline and am ready to write full time.

I write Urban Paranormal and all of my novels are set fully or in part in Detroit. I grew up reading John Saul, Dean Knoontz and Stephen King. I watched televison shows like Night Gallery, One Step Beyond and The Outer Limits. Even my favorite comdies were dark, The Munsters and The Adams Family. No wonder my teacher didn’t like my story I probably scared her. I’m looking forward to the 2015 release of my first novel with Artistic Words Publishing, In The Footsteps Of A Killer. Look for many many more tales of Urban Paranormal horror. Until then Denise signing off and wishing you…Happy Horror

Moving right along

Well it’s been a few weeks and lots has happened. Some personal stuff not so good but on the flip side I saw the proof of my book jacket for In The Footsteps Of A Killer and it is smokin hot! It surpassed what I was imagining for it. Talk about having the WOW factor. It will bring your eye to the book and the story will have you staying until the end. As I grow more and more comfortable with being an author I am enjoying the excitement that comes with it. I feel like an expectant mother awaiting the great joy that comes with birth. And with different pain, never having been a mom I can only speak in metaphor about the pain, not even close I’m sure. Anyway it won’t be long now, as I type the boss peeps are working on a release date. Keep in mind however that nothing is set in stone but I will keep you posted. Look for my next viedo update not about the book but about me. I will introduce myself and give you a little background about why I like and write horror.

missed a beat

It occured to me after my last blog that I bascially repeated what I said in the one before it, sorry. Still trying to get the hang of this blogging thing. I do however have some new news. I took headshots and picked out my photo for the back of my book jacket. Why do you care you may ask? I don’t know if you care or why. The thing is that I’m journaling this publishing journey of mine and one day you may recall when you read it here first.

I believe in a few blogs back I was introducing you to my other yet to be published novels. Dark Reflections, A Thru Zach, The Last Cattle Round Up, Bedtime Stories For Brandon. Let’s start with Dark Reflections. Dark Reflections is a gripping saga of death, voo doo, dead pirates and Monika Banks, a beautiful, talented, young artist whose recurring  nightmare comes to her days and slowy steals away her life. Dark Reflections was written and completed in 2011 after a 20 year journey and I believed it opened up and introduced the world of writing to me.

Update

So it’s been a while since my last update. I’m not a everyday blogger or even a every week one, just when I can ya know. So here is the latest on my novel, In The Footsteps Of A Killer. An Urban Paranormal mystery set in Detroit. As I type it is being edited and they are working on a cover for the book jacket. It is getting exciting around here and pretty soon you won’t be reading a blog you’ll be reading my novel.

Now once you read that you’ll want more. I tell you there is more as I am currently working on a sequel Through The Eye’s Of A Killer. Yes we find our spunky herione in trouble once again only this time she’s not the target. Want to find out more? Read In The Footsteps Of A Killer first then look for the sequel Through The Eye’s Of A Killer….Happy Horror

update

Well hello, it’s been a minute I know, but things have been up and poppin. My novel, In The Footsteps Of A Killer is being edited as we speak and we’re working on a cover design. My publishing company Artistic Words is very busy lauching two other fellow authors, Iris Fambro Carter’s,  Weep Of The Willow and K. Neal Anderson Jr.s,  Reap What You Sow. Of course I have to wait my turn but man I’m on pins and needles.

Footsteps will take you for a visit to Detroit and into the life of Leah Moore who finds a pair of cursed gym shoes once owned by the dead serial killer Albert Cain Macarthur, who want’s to come back to life to continue his reign of murder and terror. Still want to visit Detroit? Of course you do. It’s not murder as usual but it’s still murder, complete with ghost and demons. Still want to visit Detroit? Of course you do.
